We’re looking for a Corporate Counsel that’s ready to join a dynamic and fast-paced startup, and work with cross-functional teams to help deliver RepairSmith’s vision and strategy of disrupting the auto repair industry.
The perfect person for the job is experienced in supporting companies on a wide range of legal intiatives for a variety of areas including employment, corporate and compliance related legal matters.
WE WILL DEPEND ON THIS PERSON TO
Employment Matters
- Collaborate with the Human Resources team to generate, update, and implement training on HR and employment law topics.
- Provide legal guidelines and support regarding the company’s hourly national workforce.
- Update employment-related templates for compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Provide litigation support related to employment matters.
- Support diversity, equality, and inclusion initiatives.
Corporate Matters
- Review, draft and negotiate agreements with customers and vendors (including Master Services agreements, non-disclosure ageements, services agreements, collaboration agreements, licensing agreements, and other general corporate contracts).
- Assistance in review and negotiation of company financing documents including lender and investor related agreements.
- Partner with management to provide strategic, business-oriented employment law guidance for successful execution of company initiatives.
Compliance Matters
- Maintain knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and industry guidance that impact RepairSmith’s agreements and business practices.
- Maintain good corporate standing, licenses and permits in all states where the company operates.
- Partner with operations management to ensure federal and state compliance with all environmental and other applicable regulatory requirements involved in our business operations.
YOU SHOULD HAVE
- Law Degree from an ABA accredited law school and State Bar membership (California preferred).
- 5+ years of relevant legal experience in a law firm, automotive company and/or a mobility based startup company’s legal department.
- Experience with California wage and hourly laws a plus.
- A practical, business-oriented approach to problem-solving and be able to effectively advise internal business partners by providing them with clear and practical advice.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.
- Flexible and willing to approach legal challenges with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Ability to work independently effectively.
- Capability to manage a high volume of projects and meet deadlines.
- Practical and sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
